Monday Muse: Over The Rhine “Meet Me At The Edge Of The World”

September 15, 2014

Over The Rhine put out a wonderful album last year that I did not share with you guys and I should have. Meet Me At The Edge Of The World is vast double album (I have the vinyl and it is a gorgeous artifact.)  It’s a very country flavored collection, with lots of steel guitar and two part harmony, in fact it’s the most singing you’ll ever here from Linford. Songs like the title track (above) or Earthbound Love Song and All Over Ohio have a very Nashville feel without ever letting you forget it’s OTR you are listening to. All Of It Was Music evokes the bands origins on Main Street and their growth from kids in pop/folk/punk clubs to the master craftsmen with a farm on the outskirts of town and dogs resting on the porch. It was easily my favorite album of the year in 2013 and I play it once a week or so. Enjoy
